Immigrant students and their families were welcomed back to school in Memphis with open arms from school personnel and community members. After recent ICE raids in Latino neighborhoods made many families feel uneasy about registering and returning their students to school, Memphis administrators and teachers want families to know that school is a safe space.
“Many Latino families have gone through a tough past couple of weeks after immigration agents targeted their neighborhoods. …We want you to join us to make sure ALL students feel safe and welcome at their school.”
